John P. Hirdes PhD FCAHS
Dr. Hirdes is a Professor in the School of Public Health and Health Systems, University of Waterloo. He is Chair of the University’s Committee on Student Mental Health.
    Dr. Hirdes is a Professor in the School of Public Health and Health Systems, University of Waterloo. He is Chair of the University’s Committee on Student Mental Health (CoSMH) and provides oversight to its sub-groups and working groups. CoSMH’s membership includes stakeholders from across campus, as well as external partners. The committee’s mandate is to implement 36 mental wellness recommendations and develop a long-term strategy for integrating its work into the ongoing culture, functions and activities of the University.In addition, Dr. Hirdes is the Senior Canadian Fellow and a Board Member of interRAI (www.interRAI.org), an international consortium of researchers from over 35 countries. He chairs interRAI's Network for Mental Health and the interRAI Network of Canada.Dr. Hirdes has 230+ publications in peer reviewed journals and academic book chapters. His primary areas of interest include assessment, mental health, aging, health care and service delivery, case mix systems, quality measurement, health information management, and quantitative research methods.
