Dr. Karen Cohen is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). In that capacity, her responsibilities revolve around the Association’s mandates, the first of which is to improve the health and welfare of Canadians. She holds, and has held, leadership roles on many health and science-related committees and alliances and has prepared and presented briefs to standing committees of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada on matters pertaining to health and mental health. In 2017/18 she was appointed by the Minister of Revenue to co-Chair Canada’s Disability Advisory Committee, charged with providing advice to the Minister on how to improve the administration of the Disability Tax Credit for persons living with disabilities. Karen is a psychologist, registered in Ontario, holds a doctoral degree in clinical psychology and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology. Karen has written and presented widely on gaps in mental health policy, funding, services and treatment in Canada.
