On World Mental Health Day its Time to Move From Awareness to Action

How do you support your mental health?

Here’s a challenge, can you take at least 1 action to support at least 3 of the 8 dimensions of wellness this week?

Here are some free, easy examples we came up with;

EMOTIONAL – Share your feelings with a friend or write them down in a journal. Acknowledge how you feel and accept it fully.

PHYSICAL – Try a class at a new gym you’ve been meaning to try, (most will give you your first one for free, OR take a brisk 15 minute walk outside and challenge yourself to leave the device behind, just focus on your breath, our favourite, ask your partner for a shoulder massage in exchange for coffee in bed this weekend!

FINANCIAL – Establish one small goal for the next 30 days and fine tools to help you reach that goal, it might mean understanding where your money goes every month.  Start today and write down everything you spend.

ENVIRONMENTAL – What small thing will make your surroundings feel comfortable, safe and inspiring? Does nature do this for you? If so, get outside for at least 30 minutes out of the next 24 hrs. It might be as simple as being able to sleep in freshly laundered sheets tonight! Make it happen.

SOCIAL – Make at least one social connection today, make it in person, face to face at a coffee shop chatting with a stranger or going to a fitness class with a friend, volunteer for an hour?

SPIRITUAL – Take some time to reflect on how you can expand your life, what special gift do you have to offer the world? You have one, do one thing to seek for it or expand that gift today, it will give you more meaning and there are no limits to how high you can go!

INTELLECTUAL – What was the name of that book you keep meaning to read OR what small nagging job in your home can you tackle yourself if you go online and find a tutorial? Maybe you want to learn a song on your guitar, start today, and learn something new,

OCCUPATIONAL – What training can you take that would enrich your skill set, ask your HR dept what they offer to broaden your abilities and take advantage of it .
